On the night of April 26th, 1944 more than two hundred RAF bombers were on a mission to take out strategic targets in Schweinfurt, Germany. In one of the Lancasters from the 106th Squadron sat Flight Engineer Norman Cyril Jackson. When his Lancaster was hit, he made the incredible decision to go outside the plane on the wing to put the fire out. An incredible story of bravery for which he would earn the Victoria Cross.
