You CAN get to know God – Rabbi Yehoshua Simons

In this series we explore the deepest sources about what it means for Hashem to love, want, and even what it means that He has a hand. “Days are coming, declares Hashem God, when I will send a famine upon the land: not a hunger for bread or a thirst for water, but for hearing the words of Hashem!” Amos 8:11 The gemara in Pesachim (50a) says that right now Hashem’s Name is not One, chalila. When Chazal refer to Hashem’s “Name”, they mean His revelation, i.e. how well do we know Him? When we don’t know Him, His Name is not One! But didn’t we hear that it is impossible to get to know Him? The truth is, we can get to know Him, Himself, in His very Essence, perfectly well.
